During my working life, my career as a trained nurse was complimented by the experience of teaching art and eventually, I become involved with community arts projects in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. I often worked in hospitals and care homes, bringing the opportunity of creative activities to people suffering from dementia – people whose memory had fragmented. I do not feel that being an artist is something that I have a choice about - I have painted and drawn all my life and believe that art-making in the widest sense is fundamental to many people’s well-being.
When I retired, I completed a B.A. (Hons) Fine Art Degree at Hereford, graduating in 2010 – I focused my work on ideas around memory and reminiscence. I continue to work as a self-employed artist, welcoming visitors to my studio in my garden in Ledbury.
