Exhibition at Applestore Gallery, Hereford

SAM_0337

After picking up two paintings from the R.W.A. Open exhibition, I was pleased to deliver them to the Applestore Gallery in Hereford, along with nine more, selected from my series  about memory.  The work is about reminiscence rather than nostalgia and I strive to capture a moment in time  as we remember an experience from the past. The exhibition entitled “Third Servings ” continues until the 23rd February and the gallery is closed on Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday.

Reminiscence Book – about activities in Elderly care.

Time to Remember – Introducing Reminiscence and Art activities into Elderly care

During my employment by the Royal forest of Dean College, when I brought opportunities for Art and reminiscence activities to older people in care homes and centres, I produced a user friendly book, for care assistants and others working in the field. I was able to draw on my earlier experience as a trained nurse, to plan and co-ordinate age appropriate activities for all who do this important work and those they care for. The book has been available via mail order catalogues etc.  but is now available via this website on the Reminiscence book page.

New Book

My book, Kilpeck and the Romanesque in Herefordshire is now in the hands of the printers. This book is a personal response to the sights and spirit of the sacred places where a group of skilled craftsman worked at the beginning of the twelfth century. The text was developed from my dissertation submitted whilst studying for a degree in Fine Art at Hereford College of Art and many of the images come from my sketchbook and journal pages.

The book will soon be available to buy from good bookshops and galleries and through my websites. I plan to have many of my original artwork available at Blue Ginger Gallery, Cradley during Hereford art Week in September.

R.A. Summer Show

I found the visual impact at this years show, curated by Tess Jaray  quite stunning. The first gallery, the Central Hall has been painted red as a backdrop to the strong abstract painting by artists such as Philip Sutton and Frank Bowling. The largest gallery has many smaller works in an undulating design. …I feel it is such an honour for my painting to be included.
